The Cal South Referee Program administers U.S. Soccer referee license certification. Once registered and approved by the State Referee Committee, you are a U.S. Soccer Referee for that registration year and may independently officiate for any U.S. Soccer National Member Organization (except AYSO).

Referees are independent contractors who obtain matches through local Assignors or Referee Associations, private entities in Southern California that set working conditions without oversight from U.S. Soccer or Cal South. Under the U.S. Soccer Policy Manual, the State Referee Committee oversees all referee licenses and compliance with U.S. Soccer ethics, policies, and certification standards.

Cal South is committed to recruiting, certifying, and advancing referees across U.S. Soccer National Member Organizations.
